The Chattanooga Locomotion used a balanced rushing attack and a stingy defense to defeat the Tennessee Valley Tigers in the first round of  the "Battle of the Borders" held at Red Bank Community Stadium in Red Bank, TN on April 11th.

 

The Locomotion had 5 ball carriers with over 35 yards rushing and the defense held the Tigers to 58 yards of total offense in the game. Amanda Cunningham had 97 yards on 14 carries, Jackie Young added 79 yards on 16 totes and a touchdown, Sunshine Loveless contributed 74 yards on 8 totes and added 2 touchdowns, while Denisha Montgomery had 57 yards on 8 touches and a touchdown, and Brandi Oliver added 35 yards on 8 carries for the 1-0 Locomotion. Emily Ragan added a 23 yard scoring strike from Tiffany Newcomb and had an interception on defense. Loveless ended up with 9 tackles while 7 of those were behind the line of scrimmage and caused 3 fumbles, recovering 2 of them.

 

The 0-1 Tigers were led on defense by Stephanie Palmer's 10.5 tackles, Mildred Gholston's 7.5 stops and 2 fumble recoveries, and Danielle Hendrix added 7 hits.

 

The rematch will happen on Week 2 at Huntsville's Goldsmith-Schiffman Stadium.
