The Independent Women's Football League is proud to announce that Sara Cavenaugh representing the Carolina Phoenix, has been awarded an X Team membership license and will join the league’s growing roster of teams for the 2007 season.

“The Phoenix players and staff are a tremendously dedicated group of people. They’re working very hard to create a team the Greensboro area can be proud of,” said Laurie Frederick IWFL Chief Executive Officer.

The Carolina Phoenix is a women’s tackle football team created to offer women in the Greensboro area a new opportunity to play women’s tackle football. The Phoenix will be placed in the highly competitive IWFL Eastern Conference where they will play an exciting spring schedule featuring games against their new cross state rival the Cape Fear Thunder.

“We are so pleased to be a part of the IWFL.  Our hardworking and dedicated players are determined to bring women’s football to this part of North Carolina.  We are excited about providing an opportunity for more women in the area to play full tackle football and to be a part of the fellowship that comes with being a member of such a dedicated team,” stated Carolina Team Delegate Sara Cavenaugh.
