IWFL WELCOMES THE SO CAL SCORPIONS by IWFL November 18, 2009
Round Rock, Texas –The Independent Women's Football League is proud to announce that Christina Carrillo, representing the So Cal Scorpions, has been awarded a full membership license. The Scorpions will join the league’s growing roster of teams for the 2010 season. The team comes to the IWFL after completing five successful seasons, with three post season appearances as well as a championship title in their former league.
“The So Cal Scorpions are the last major champion to join the IWFL. This marks a historic moment for the team, league and our sport. This is a great team in a great city and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the IWFL family,” stated Kezia Disney, IWFL Chief Operating Officer.
The Scorpions schedule will feature games against their old rival the LA Amazons as well as exciting new match ups against the California Quake, Tucson Monsoon and Bay Area Bandits.
“On behalf of our entire organization, we look forward to being a part of the IWFL. Our fans can look forward to key returning veteran players, as well as returning coaches from our 2007 Championship season,” stated Christina Carrillo, So Cal Scorpions team Delegate. “San Diego will be very happy to see their Scorpions back onto the field” added team owner, Ann Bagala.

The So Cal Scorpions Women’s Professional football team was formed in 2003 by owner Ann Bagala and is based in San Diego, California. The Scorpions were the first professional sport organization in San Diego to win a national championship title. They have a display honoring their achievement in the San Diego Hall of Champions.
