Pittsburgh Passion Defeat Baltimore Nighthawks, 34 -- 6

PITTSBURGH -- The Passion hosted the Baltimore Nighthawks under a clear Pittsburgh sky and fun-loving crowd. In the 1st Quarter, Passion defensive back Olivia Griswold picked up a fumble recovery and completed a 65-yard run for the first touchdown of the game. Passion Quarterback Janice Masters connected with receiver Amanda Heeg for a 32-yard touchdown pass.

Into the 2nd Quarter, Pittsburgh's Lyndsi Hughes completed a 9-yard touchdown run. With 2:53 left to go in the half, Haeg also reached the endzone again with a 7-yard touchdown run. Masters successfully hit Jenine Suprano on the 2-point conversion pass. Passion Defensive Back Kim Zubovic clinched 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble. Score pressed to 27 -- 0 at halftime.

Defense on both sides held the score still in the 3rd Quarter. With 11:08 left in the 4th Quarter, Nighthawks Quarterback Lil Drumgold connected with receiver Kendra Bates for a 7-yard Baltimore touchdown. With 4:44 to go in the game, the Passion's Kara Prentice threw to Jen Berke for a 14-yard touchdown. Amy Fallon clinched the extra point to round out the final score at 34 - 6. Passion Defense led by Trumane Rogers, Krystal Cozzo, Sharon Vasquez, and Kim Zubovic.

Keeping the home tradition alive, the Passion have now won 20 consecutive home games in a row. Next up, the Passion will travel to Chicago  to take on the Chicago Force on May 22nd. The Pittsburgh Passion and the Baltimore Nighthawks are both licensed teams in the Independent Women's Football League. The IWFL currently has over 1600 women playing the sport for more than 45 teams across North America from Southern California to Montreal and Washington to Florida.
