IWFL Accepting Tier 1 and 2 Team Applications for 2008!

The IWFL team application is now open to all women’s football teams regardless of previous league affiliation. The IWFL has set an ambitious goal to unify the sport in 2008 and launched an aggressive effort to offer the first real solution to the challenges facing women’s teams around the nation. With that goal to unify the sport in mind, the IWFL is opening the door to all current women’s tackle football teams.

All women’s tackle football teams are respectfully invited to apply for 2008 IWFL team membership. Additionally, teams that secure their IWFL membership before June 15, 2007 will receive a reduced first year (2008) annual fee, a free custom designed logo (or for those that have a current logo, a merchandise design), a custom team website, and access to exclusive IWFL programs.*

Each new team will be aligned by market, roster size and region into a division with current IWFL teams. Teams will no longer need to be burdened by extreme travel expense and/or roster size mismatches. Each new team will finally be able to offer their players, fans, and sponsors the best possible women’s football experience with the added benefit of the support of the most widely respected women’s tackle football organization, the IWFL.

“Since the league began back in 2000 we have always taken great care in awarding memberships only to those teams that meet the highest level of quality both on and off the field,” stated IWFL Chief Operating Officer Kezia Disney, “That quality can be found in all markets regardless of size, so we want to make sure everyone is given the best opportunity to create success. With the new Multi-Tier system we can offer every team, every player, and every fan the best possible experience.”

Tier 1 (Major) teams will be assigned to divisions based on region. They will play exclusively against other major market teams. This will ensure the level of competition remains high and the team’s sponsorship marketability increases.

Tier 2 (Midsize) teams will also be assigned to divisions based on region. Travel distance will be kept reasonable in order to keep team expenses down. Tier Two teams will compete against other high quality teams of similar roster size, creating exciting close scoring games that will give players and fans alike the best experience possible.

The Multi Tier system will give every women’s football team, and every IWFL player the opportunity to be their best. Each Tier will have a Championship game and crown an IWFL National Champion.
“Every player, regardless of the size of her hometown, will have an equal opportunity to compete and an equal opportunity to succeed,” added Disney.
